Support

Often the key to whether a family can successfully homeschool is the type of support they receive. Unfortunately, we don’t always receive encouragement from our family or community. Connecting with other homeschoolers is the best way to make new friends, and to get information, ideas, and support. We’ve compiled support group resources and offer simple ways to connect with other homeschoolers through email groups, website forums, and in your community. You’ll also find information on local and state events, cultural and educational institutions, field trip ideas, tutors, bookstores, and much, much more.

Homeschooling Creatively

This list is a place where parents can come to understand and give value to our creative children as we home/unschool with them. The focus will be on discussing alternative ways (versus public school methods) to help our creative children learn which best suits their learning style and respects their complex personality traits, taking a look at creating a success-based learning environment that draws on the strengths of our creative learners while providing support-based opportunities to gently guide their intense natures.

Choosing Curriculum

“How do I get the home school curriculum?” and “How much will it cost me?” are common questions. Curriculum, or the schooling materials and books, can be purchased, (new or used), rented, or designed on your own. Here are a few places for each option.

Classical~Charlotte Mason Material Swap

The Classical Charlotte Mason Swap list is for home schooling families to exchange living books and curricula that are used with the classical (Trivium) method or the Charlotte Mason method. This list does not support one particular way of implementing classical education, but rather is open to methods and materials as recommended in the many books and websites on the subject. Curricula, books, manipulatives, videos, and audios may be posted.

Griggs International Academy

Griggs International Academy is an online Christian school with multiple accreditations. They offer full curricula, teachers who are certified experts in their fields, online high school diploma, and more.

Cycles not Perfection

Laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning--are these things ever really done. Rather than looking at chores as needing to be "finished," see them as part of a cycle of living within your household.
